Golf conditioning sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? But let me ask you something. Do you feel stress on your body during or after a golf swing? I am referring to physical stress. The muscles tightening; lumbar stiffness; aching joints; or just simple physical fatigue. The reason I ask is to make you aware that conditioning for golf will help to eliminate all of the above.

I have written many articles regarding the traumatic effect that the golf swing can have on the body. Swinging a 3-foot lever (club) up to 160 km / h in a very dynamic and sometimes uncomfortable position (golf posture) will quickly abuse your body if you have not prepared your muscles from the point of view of strength and flexibility .

Physical decomposition of the body is a common occurrence for golfers. Many golfers do not realize the intense pressure that the golf swing causes, and yet they will deal with aches and pains throughout their golf career.

Golf is an athletic movement and you must physically prepare your body to act, as any other athlete would do for your sport.

I see golfers every day on the golf course and on the golf course that are physically broken. They locked their shoulders, inhibiting their ability to rotate fully; they have no central strength (most golfers are sporting many pounds in between) to produce energy and distance; flexibility of poor hamstrings, making it impossible to keep the golf poster; the upper back muscles are weak and tight causing the rounded upper part to move backwards, eliminating any chance of proper spine angle.

I could go on, but I think you understand.

I don’t know if players deny the importance of conditioning for golf, or just don’t want to work on that aspect of the game. But either way, it is inevitable that a weak and restricted body has no chance of maximizing potential. It is a physical impossibility.
